Hi everyone, we’ll talk about “Why I switched from macOS to Windows”. There are many reasons for this decision. I’ll talk to each for all titles below. But first, let’s compare my PC's hardware and my macOS’ hardware and different topics

My workspace

Compare macOS and Windows’ specs

macOS

  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)
  • 6-Core i7–9750H @ 2.60GHz
  • 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz
  • 256 GB SSD

Windows

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3,6GHz 35MB Cache
  • 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
  • 480 GB m2 SSD

You can see my computers’ specs below.

Which am I developing techs?

My expert skill is Android Development. Apart from these, I’m using;

  • Docker
  • Spring (Intellij Idea)
  • Angular (Webstorm)
  • Python (PyCharm)

And other tools;

  • Discord
  • Zoom
  • Chrome

Why I decide don’t use macOS?

Stability

I was satisfied when I bought my MacBook but when I released new versions (especially the BigSur version) I could not use my MacBook and not only for me use macOS my other friends said the same things. Usually, when I open 2 chrome tabs and open 1 Android project my macOS was freezing.

Now I don’t update my macOS.

Temperature

When I open the Chrome and Android Studio project temperature rises to 85 °C therefore when I my hand put to on MacBook my hand sweat. That situation uncomfortable for me.

Noise

When i open macbook, macbook’s fan increase rpm value to 5900. Therefore in March I my macbook went to apple service. But service said “There is no any hardware problem at your macbook but we cleared your macbook”. When I came house open macbook again there was fan noise.

I don’t Trust Apple

You know Apple deliberately slowing down before products. Linked post;

And released new M1 Macbook. I think Apple slowing down old macbooks. I don’t want spend money again new macbook.

Already enough above reasons for change macOS for me.

Why I didn’t Use Windows Before using macOS?

When I student I was using Arch Linux on my personal computer. But when I working at the company I couldn’t corporate applications like Microsoft Team etc.

I had to change my OS but I didn’t use Windows. Because Windows slowly than Linux. And I get used to the Linux user experience therefore I decided to use macOS.

Why do I now prefer Windows ?

Firstly, I don’t live like macOS problems.

Secondly, WSL :) (Best reason)

What is WSL?

The Windows Subsystem for Linux lets developers run a GNU/Linux environment — including most command-line tools, utilities, and applications — directly on Windows, unmodified, without the overhead of a traditional virtual machine or dualboot setup.

Now if you use WSL 2 Windows came with Linux Kernal. And you can use all Linux commands in Windows.

Now I can open all my developing tools And I’m not slowing down
